Shoeboxes for Soldiers
WHAT: This year Living Hope is sending Christmas Shoeboxes (AKA ‘Christmas care packages’) to Nikolay Krug’s army unit in Germany. The purpose of this project is to provide encouragement to these soldiers who are away from their families at Christmas as well as to share the good news of the Gospel with these men. We will be packing 40 boxes. Living Hope will supply the boxes, Bibles, and a tract/booklet. We are asking our church family to sign up to purchase items, which include gift cards, socks, and snack items, as well as to write notes of encouragement to bless these soldiers.
DONATION DUE DATE: All items need to be in to the church office or delivered to the Mission team by November 18th.
LETTERS/CARDS: We would like our LHC church family to write notes/cards to our soldiers that we can put in the boxes; the more notes the better.
PACKING PARTY: On Sunday, November 22nd we will have a packing party after church. During this 30 minute time, LHC participants can come into the old gym/worship area. In a socially distanced atmosphere, the LHC church family can come and write notes or drop off your notes of encouragement for these soldiers. The younger children can help decorate the shoeboxes. We will also take time to pray for the soldiers—for their encouragement, safety, and salvation – as well as pray over these boxes and their recipients as a church. This is a great opportunity for the entire family!
*The sign-up genius has 40 sign up spots under each type of gift—$10 gift cards-Burger King (that was the 1st choice on the list), as well as Tactical Boot Socks, snack items bag (candy bars, small bag of chips, gum, nuts, cookies, and drink packets. We are hoping that this will mean each soldier will receive the same big items for each box and a variety of snacks per shoebox.
