God my Creator, I give you thanks. Give me grace to fulfill your Word which calls me to “give thanks in all circumstances” (1Th 5:18). When my soul is tired, I will seek your Spirit for the energy to give you thanks. When life seems empty, I will look to your goodness and give you thanks. When my heart wants to complain, I will confess my ungratefulness and give you thanks. Hear my prayer with the words of Psalm 138 (CSB):
“I will give you thanks with all my heart; I will sing your praise before the heavenly beings. I will bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your constant love and truth. You have exalted your name and your promise above everything else.”
God my Father, I commit to give you thanks with my whole heart – with all that I have. I will tell, sing, and shout your praises before heaven and earth! I bow down to worship and give thanks to your holy name. I thank you for your constant love in my life. I thank you for your truth that guides me. Your name is exalted above everything else. Your promises are always kept.
“On the day I called, you answered me; you increased strength within me. All the kings on earth will give you thanks, Lord, when they hear what you have promised. They will sing of the Lord’s ways, for the Lord’s glory is great.”
God my King, whenever I call out to you, you are faithful to answer. When I am weak, you strengthen me to follow you another day. I long for the day when every person – from the greatest to the least – will know your goodness and praise your name. When people hear your promises and receive your mercy, then they will sing about your amazing ways. Oh my Lord, your glory and power is so wonderful!
“Though the Lord is exalted, he takes note of the humble; but he knows the haughty from a distance. If I walk into the thick of danger, you will preserve my life from the anger of my enemies. You will extend your hand; your right hand will save me. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me. Lord, your faithful love endures forever; do not abandon the work of your hands.”
God my Savior, you are high and lifted up. None compare with you, yet you take notice of the humble and lowly. But in holiness, you keep your distance from those who stand in their pride. Even when I walk through the thickest cloud of danger, you are with me. You deliver me from my enemies and every plot of the devil. You reach out your right hand to rescue me! Lord, I trust and believe that you will fulfill every one of your good promises for me. Your steadfast love endures forever and ever! God, please never stop working in my life!
I pray this in faith, because of the work of Jesus. Because of him, I know that you hear me. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
