According to God’s great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
– I PETER 1:3, ESV

The seeds of Living Hope were planted in the fall of 2006 when Tim Dance and his wife Karen met a family in Southern York County with a vision for a new church in the community.  Tim was a graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary and was serving with a church in Elkton, Maryland.  In the months that followed, a small core group gathered to seek direction from God.  In the spring of 2007, Tim was ordained and his family moved to New Freedom.

Living-Hope-Church-StackedThat June, about a dozen families gathered for the first worship service at the YMCA. Since that first service, we’ve come to see our connection with the Y as a partnership which provides a strategic platform for our mission to reach the community.  Over the years, we have also established children’s classes, mid-week Life Groups, a youth group, and outreach teams.

In 2010, the church leased some office and meeting space in Shrewsbury and hired Katie Comber to help with administrative needs.  In 2012, Scott Logan was hired as our first Associate Pastor.

In 2014, Matt Kozma came on staff as our Associate Pastor to oversee youth and outreach.  And then in 2016, Donna Sue Bongardt came onto the team as our Administrative Director, and Jan Null became our Children’s Director.

The church is shepherded by an elder team which includes the pastors and lay elders.  The church is also served by deacons who coordinate children’s ministry, worship, facilities, hospitality and finances. You can view our current leadership team here.  In 2017, Living Hope Church joined Acts 29 – a diverse, global family of church-planting churches.  You can read about more about our connection here.

By God’s grace, Living Hope will continue to grow and move forward in His purposes.  We’d love to see you become part of our story!
