New To God

New To God

Fulfillment:

If you are new to God or haven’t been to church in a while, we’re glad that you’re checking us out. We whole-heartedly believe that God exists, and that His presence can make a difference in our lives. God created us to be connected to Him, and it’s only through that connection that we can find hope and fulfillment in this life.

Brokenness:

We believe that the Bible is God’s revelation to humanity. It speaks about His love and plan for the world. It also speaks about the reality that humans are messed up. The reason that our lives our filled with broken relationships, emotional strain, and difficult circumstances is because of our rebellion against our Creator. We’ve all chosen to do things our own way, rather than God’s way.

Restoration:

But the Bible also talks about a living hope that can be found through God’s Son Jesus. God is completely loving, but He is also completely just. He wanted to restore the relationship we had broken with Him, but first needed to make amends for our rebellion against Him. That’s why Jesus came to earth.

Jesus:

Fully human and fully divine, Jesus lived a life filled with obedience, selflessness, teaching, and miracles. Because the religious establishment felt threatened by His following, He was executed on a Roman cross. Three days later, God raised Jesus from the dead. (There are historically reliable documents verifying this.) Because of His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus is the Messiah for all mankind.

Transformation:

Faith in Jesus transfers us from a state of death to a state of life. God put the punishment that we deserve on Jesus, and He faced an eternity of spiritual death so that we don’t have to. He acted as our substitute, and so anyone who trusts in Jesus receives forgiveness. But also, because Jesus was raised from the dead, anyone who trusts in Him receives new life. This is a life filled with strength, peace, and hope – a life that begins now and goes on into eternity. When you place faith in Jesus, the actual Spirit of God comes and fills you. You still have to live in this broken world, but now the presence of God is with you. The New Testament summarizes God’s main message this way:

“For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.  But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” – Titus 3:3-7

Hope:

This is what the Bible, and our church, is all about – finding hope in the living God. If you want to find out more about connecting with God, consider reading the Gospel of John in the New Testament. If you have questions, please send us an email or visit our Sunday Worship Gathering.
